No. DPC is a voluntary benefit. Employees can choose to enroll in Base Camp Health or continue with their current provider. We find that once employees experience the DPC model — same-day appointments, direct access, unhurried visits — most choose to make the switch.
As the employee's primary care provider, we coordinate all specialist referrals. We help employees find the right specialist, communicate directly with the specialist about the patient's care, and remain involved in coordinating treatment. Specialist costs are covered by the employee's insurance or health-share plan. Because Base Camp Health is independent of a hospital system or other health network, our referrals are always based on what is best for the patient.
